Austin Texas Lakes
Austin's lakes include: Lady Bird Lake, Lake Walter E Long, and the Highland Lakes (Lake Buchanan, Inks Lake, Lake LBJ, Lake Marble Falls, Lake Travis, and Lake Austin).
In 2007 the City renamed Town Lake, to Lady Bird Lake, in honor of the late Lady Bird Johnson, former first lady of the United States.
Lady Bird Lake is in the heart of downtown Austin. Lady Bird is a beautiful, scenic area as well as a recreational and outdoor events hot-spot.
For recreation, there's opportunity for hiking and biking, kayaks, rowing, and canoeing. Also popular swimming holes along the shores include: Deep Eddy Pool, Barton Springs Pool.
When it comes to entertainment on the Lake, there's nothing more exciting than the festivals and outdoor concerts.
The annual Austin City Limits Music Festival; the Austin Reggae Festival and Spamarama; and the Urban Music Festival held on Auditorium Shores are just a few.
As you can see, we take complete full advantage of our beautiful lakes. Check the Austin events Calendar for dates and times.
