Austin Texas Weather Patterns

Planning according to Austin Texas weather
If you want to plan your trip around our weather... beware. Texas weather changes at the drop of a hat.

But there are certain patterns of weather during the year that are relatively predictable.

TIP: Keep an umbrella on hand and wear layers. Chances are, if it's hot outside, you're bound to freeze inside of restaurants and venues. Conversely, if its cold out, the inside may be a bit warm-so keep that in mind before leaving the hotel.

Austin Weather January to February
Cold temps (teens to 50s)
It really doesn't start getting cold around here until January and February. Our winters are pretty short lived. But the temps are all over the place. And then, after a day or two of ice storms, ice patches move aside to make way for beautiful wild flowers.

Austin Weather March through May
Comfortable (70s, 80s/low 90s)
There are certain times of the year in Austin when things are green, blooming, and beautiful. Those times usually occur between March and May. The sun is out, birds are chirping and folks are smiling. The only damper would be those unexpected rain showers. This is the perfect time to visit the gardens and state parks.

Austin Weather June through September
Scorching (90s to triple digits)
Summer time is infamous for triple digit weather. As I type this I am watching the news. Its August and We've had 46 triple digit days so far this summer. And tomorrow is looking like 102! You would think with September right around the corner, we'd be in for cooler weather, NOT. It's still pretty hot well into the final days of September. And the humidity-not pretty.

Austin Weather October through December
Tolerable (60s to low 80s)
This time of year is sort of iffy. You don't know if its going to be cool, cold, hot, or wet. If you want to plan a trip to Austin during a time that is less crowded or a time when the weather is conducive to walking everywhere. This would be a nice time to visit.

Flu Season:
In Austin flu season begins late fall and ends early winter. If you're traveling to Austin, TX during this time, consider getting your flu shot before hand.
